I've lived in the area for almost four years and Johnson Utilities has been the bane of our existence the entire time. They charge WAY too much, their billing practices are predatory at best, and their infrastructure is falling apart. We even had to buy bottled water for a few weeks when they told us that their drinking water had become contaminated.

There have also been stories of sabotage and retaliatory lawsuits filed by Johnson Utilities against its customers.

We can't wait to leave.

Hi Diana,
There are two first home buyer programs for first time buyers and I have guided many people through the process and helped them become "First Time Buyers"! It all starts with a quick phone call and in a few short days you can be preapproved for a loan and armed with the correct knowledge of what you qualify for. Then you are ready to start looking for a home in your price range. I would love to help you through this exciting process. Call or text me (Steve) at 480-253-0071 or visit my website and check me out and check out my loan program on the pull down menu. Go to azdreamhomesearch.com ... more

Harrison Wolfington answered:
Find a good local agent and ask their advice! This is probably market and situation specific.

In my market, cosmetic updates is where you'll see money back upon the sale of the home. But there are certain maintenance items that need to be in order (roof, heating system, electrical, siding, etc.) in order for you to get what your house is worth -- but they don't necessarily add a whole lot of value. ... more

Find a local realtor, ask them to refer you to a lender for advice! Details on the short sale are important here...I worked with a buyer who did a short sale 18 months prior, but had built the credit back up quickly and the lender was able to make a case that the short sale was not the buyer's fault (divorce) and that's not an accurate reflection of how her credit was used...so she was able to purchase long before the normal wait period. ... more

Jim Mitchell answered:
Hello Bert and Susan. It looks like from your post that you might be looking for a home, so I ran a quick MLS search of Queen Creek / San Tan Valley for homes larger than 1800 sq/ft with a pool.

There aren't very many gated communities in these areas, so here are ALL 'Active' listings (a few gated, most NOT gated) with a private pool and at least 1800 sq/ft; there are 135 properties on this list.

They range in price from $139,800 up to $1,900,000.

Here's the link:

If you're interested in obtaining more information on any of them, feel free to give me a call or send me an email. I do a lot of business in these areas and I'm familiar with all of the subdivisions.

Thanks for the post!
