I used to live in the area, but I can't afford it anymore and now I'm in Dallas, TX.

Both San Ramon and Pleasanton are really nice, you can't go wrong renting from either one. The rent price obviously varies depending upon the size of the home, the updates etc. The commute also varies depending upon what time you need to get to work and from what point in Pleasanton to what point in San Ramon. If you are concern about the commute then I would suggest that you rent a place closest to work.

I highly suggest that you work with a local realtor to assist you in finding what you are looking for.

Good luck!

Hello Hawkeye:

What is your budget? You can possibly get an older (1970s) duet in Twin Creeks area for around $450K. If you want something more recent, say in Gale Ranch, you will be in the mid $500s and HOA dues will be higher.

You can check out what is available now (not very much) on my website or if you like, I could let you have details of what has sold in the past few months to give you an idea od what is possible.

June without a regular income you may be able to work out paying the rent for 6 months in advance. I rent to a young person that is getting student loans and she prefers to pay when her check comes in rather than have to pay monthly and maybe run out of money before the next check comes in. It all depends on what the property owner is willing to do. ... more
