Rent to own properties are rare. I strongly recommend that you rent, and rebuild your credit until you qualify for a mortgage.

It reall depends on what you want. Renting gives you the freedom of coming and going as you please, yet your dollars are paying for someone elses mortgage.

Owning your own home, (at the right time and right price) gives you the freedom of knowing it's "home" and nobody can evict or raise your rent.

With that said, if you do decide to purchase a home be absolutely sure it's what YOU want and not what friends, relatives, or even Realtors tell you to do. Be sure your finances are secure and you will not be counting pennys to make you home payment.

I have friends that are renting and they are very happy doing so.

Gilbert,

The plan would be to begin building shortly after getting the land. We'd just slowly begin adding the necessary facilities to lead up to building the yurt (i.e. solar, well, septic, etc).
I'm unclear about the term 'depreciate' when it comes to real estate. What did you mean by that?

Thanks,
Lex
