Hi Raja, I think that if you really want to watch your resell value, then I would keep the door. Access to the garage from the house is one of the normal luxuries that I don't think people want to loose. Perhaps you could find a new place to have a door, if you really want to increase your counter space.

That's awful.

The best source to find properties to rent is craigslist.

I did search in the multiple listing service. There's just one property for rent: 523 Stambaugh St. ,#E, Redwood City. It's a higher price at $1400. I don't know if that's possible for your nephew. But try calling the agent for more information.

Good luck to both of you.

Tough to say exactly from the photograph as one can't see the address. You might try putting in the address in Google Maps directly and see what results you get.

I forgot to add in my other response that yes, you can hear 280 from Lexington. For some it's bothersome, for others, the positives out weigh the negatives. If you can get a block or two away, it's not as bad.

John Juarez answered:
What you have seen is a Notice of Default. That is the first formal step in the foreclosure process. If you read information included in the link you will find an explanation of the Notice of Default. The property is not scheduled for auction until a Notice of Trustee Sale is recorded. Even then, the auction can be cancelled or postponed.

As for the property taxes, that figure will be based up the price paid by the next owner of the property. You can use 1.25% of the purchase price as an estimate. The current property tax amount is not relevant because that amount will change upon change of ownership.
