I'm not sure what the specific requirements are as I think it really depends on your home and area. If I were you, I would hire a residential electrician to see if they can come help you. They should know all of the requirements that are needed as well as everything else you will need. They can also help answer any other questions you have. I would try finding one in your area soon! ... more

Jackson Will…, Home Buyer in Provo, UT
Mon May 4, 2015
Jackson Willis answered:
I don't think that security systems generally come with a home. You can ask the realtor though. There's a chance that the equipment has been left behind. In that case, I don't think it would be active, and you would have to hire a company to come out and have the system activated. Different companies could have different ways of doing this, but you'll never know until you ask around and do your research. I hope you're able to figure this out and that you're able to keep your house safe with a security system.

I agree, sometimes agents have to bring me we don't want to but just like normal happens when life spills over to work...BUT for as much as we like to have written offers..times are a changing...sometimes we are texted an offer coming in...sometimes it's emailed...I DON'T LIKE IT...and I tell my sellers take this with an er' of caution until we get paperwork it is...bottom line is, If the Agent Is doing their job for you...and gets it done the right way in the end.. and you trust the agent has your best interests in mind...give some slack...I can only imagine most pf my clients think I am an airhead most of the time EXCEPT,when it comes to the JOB...they know I am damn good at what I do and they know I would go to bat for them hands down as if it were my own transaction, until it closes...I know they all think of me like that, we are all only human...and that agent is probably doing the very best they can, probably even more than you really think. ... more
