To find out what price your house could sell for would be to make appointments with 1-3 Realtors. It doesn't cost anything for an agent to come to your home to do a market analysis. They are hoping to show you what they can do to sell your home. Beware of the agent that gives you the highest price because that agent is just telling you what you want to hear so they can put a sign in your front yard to advertise themselves. Go with the agent that gives you a price and can back it up by showing you at least 3 homes that are similar to yours that are currently for sale and can show you at least 3 homes that did sell. That is the agent that is giving you the real information. You want an agent that won't tell you what you want to hear, but what you need to hear. An appraisal helps in that you cannot sell a house for more than what it appraises for, unless the buyer wants to put more money down or is paying cash and want to pay more than what the appraiser says it's worth.
