Hi Linda:

I live in Campus Commons. The answer to your question is YES. Campus Commons is a dog friendly community. In fact, Campus Commons and Nepenthe have worked years to build a neighborhood OFF-LEASH dog park. Now, with the support of Councilmember Kevin McCarty, The City of Sacramento has agreed to convert the southern end of University Park (at 1900 University Avenue) to a dog park. City Staff has designated the 1.3 acres of land to be divided into a large dog park area and a small dog area. It will be completely fenced in with a water fountain for owners and dogs, and include a sally port into each area. The City has agreed to bear half the expense and the community is in the midst of trying to raise the rest ($60,000) to start this project. Can't wait! Hope this helps. :) Paige ... more

Yes, but they need to be accompanied by their parents/adult, who is ultimately responsible for their safety. There are NO lifeguards on duty.

Regional Transit has two nearby regular bus routes on Howe Avenue which is the eastern border of Campus Commons. One route continues up Howe Avenue and down and west, I believe, to a main transfer center at Cal State Sacramento. The other route goes up Howe, east on American River Drive a short way, and then north on Munroe which becomes Fulton Avenue. There are connections to light rail on both routes.

I would also note that Safeway, CVS, cleaners, restaurants, and banks are all within one block or two from the eastern edge of Campus Commons - an easy walk. A little further are more restaurants, the upscale Pavillions shopping area, Loehman's Plaza, and Borders' Bookstore.

Close to the river, downtown, the university, restaurants and shopping. Lots of greenery. I don't see much downside to living there at Campus commons. Because it is so desirable, the cost of living there is probably higher than say Woodside or Fulton Square - condos that are further north.

I think you might find the cost per square foot cheaper at Fulton Square or Woodside. But the commute to downtown is two to ten minutes longer.
