If you choose not to work with an agent of your own always verify ownership before exchanging any money/personal information--make certain they are who they claim to be. If unfamiliar with the area(s) do revisit more than once and at different times of day, possibly chat with locals/neighbors. Real estate professionals are prohibited from steering, enticing a buyer to purchase/rent, or not, in specific neighborhoods.

The Windermere, Winter Garden and parts of SW Orlando are some of the best areas to raise a family. The schools are rated as some of the best in the state. Close to Disney and downtown Orlando. I live in the Summerport community in Windermere. We have our own grade school and the middle school is a short drive. It's nice to see the children walking and riding their bikes to school. I moved from Philadelphia 8 years ago and and tried a few different areas and I settled in Windermere.

The homes in Rosemont proper are really under valued in my opinion. the reason they are so low is due to the nearby apartment complexes which in the past have had criminal activity. today it has calmed down but still does exist. but then again we saw more crime in college park then we did in rosemont. we live in north rosemont area and wish we could have purchased on the lake. where else can you find a lake front property in a golf course (designed by Lloyd Clifton) community for 200 -300K. and no motor boats allowed! Where else can you be in downtown or college park or winter park in 15 minutes with no tolls? this is one of few subdivisions I know of that has the old cypress trees and old oaks in the same area, a true old Florida feel. the architecture is very unique and one can see the island and south Florida influence of the 1980's when Rosemont was the Lake Nona and Waterford lakes of its day. the first to offer an all inclusive lifestyle. in the 1990s the apartments allowed section 8 and low income residents grew and while some were grateful and good people many were not so gracious. this can be seen today at the rosemont bus stop area where trash abound every day because not many care to walk the several feet to the trash can. it is unfortunate because I still believe as a long time Orlando resident Rosemont still has great potential. If you are buying on lake Orlando you are doing a wise thing. Go for it we did and only regret we could not afford a bigger lake front house! Rich ... more

At the end of the day, buying a property is like purchasing business. You have to look at your personal profit and loss statement to determine if it is feasible to purchase prior to making a decision.
