I'm looking specifically at downtown properties, but at least (3) Pawtucket listings keep showing up in the wrong location on the map. It is very misleading!

What options are there for public transportation between the Providence airport and Westerly, RI. Where do I find the schedules if there is transportation?

Barrington is close to the bike path, you'll be on the east side of the bay. Seekonk will be the shopping area. Roads in and out of the East Bay side tend to be slow speed limits and only one lane each way (if you're headed to Bristol or Newport). Beaches would be limited - unless you drive to Newport. You would be closer to Cape Cod. Not sure about the restaurants there.
East Greenwich is on the West Bay - it's close to Route 95, which makes it accessible to Providence, CT, Warwick (known for its shopping on Rte 2). Roads tend to be 2 lanes each way and have higher speed limits. Beaches are plentiful, depending on where you want to go - Narragansett is 20 minutes away and has the best beaches in RI. East Greenwich has excellent restaurants. I favor the West Bay - easy access to everything.

Hi Sarah! Congratulations on your new Providence job opportunities and welcome to the ocean state! My wife and I were in your exact situation just 2 years ago and so happy we decided on moving to Barrington. Especially now that we have 8 week old twins.

I'm a realtor in Barrington but do represent both towns, I can definitely give you an unbiased perspective on both.

Community Education: Barrington (Bachelors/67.5% & Grad/36.25%) and East Greenwich (Bachelors/59.7% & Grad/28.16%). Many Brown University educators live in Barrington.

Community Safety rank: Both Barrington and East Greenwich are VERY safe.

Real Estate: It all depends on what you are looking for. Properties in both Barrington and East Greenwich are the same and different at the same time.

In Barrington, the town is split into four neighborhoods. Depending on the neighborhood, you can find properties in the $150's (West Barrington) to $1M+ (Nayatt), both waterfront neighborhoods. If you're looking for more land, beautiful Hamden Meadows neighborhood is a great option, which offers two elementary schools.

East Greenwich does offer more properties with larger lots, but very few waterfront homes/neighborhoods (If I had to guess, it's probably around 12-15 waterfront properties). And the town is really spread out, which doesn't give it the tight small town feel as you would find in Barrington.

Also, both are very young family friendly with community events throughout the year. However, if you'd prefer to walk around town with the kids, Barrington is definitely a better option especially with the bike path. The bike path offers stops at ice cream shops, shopping and restaurants. Since East Greenwich is really spread out, you definitely need to drive the kids to most places/events. Main Street in EG is awesome offering many more options for restaurants, coffee shops and shopping. It does get busy, so using a stroller can be a challenge.

Now reading the above paragraphs, I guess I am a little bit bias on Barrington. As I said, both towns are great and it really does depend on what you looking for. Barrington was just the perfect little town for our growing family.

If you have any other questions, feel free to email me, hgomes@colemanrealtors.com or you can visit my website at CoastalRIHomes.com. I'd also be happy to take you around both towns next time you're in the area. Good luck with the decision, and please let me know if there is anything else I can do to help!

Attleboro to Warwick will always be less traffic than anything going into Mass. Attleboro is about 30 miles away from Braintree (exit 6 I believe) but that could mean 1 hour+ in the crazy morning traffic.
Warwick is about 24 miles but you will encounter traffic in the afternoon and easy commute in the morning.
