i have 2 very small dogs. are there ANY oceanfront or oceanview condos anywhere along the strand that will allow renters to have dogs?

Asked by Paul Mazurek, North Myrtle Beach, SC Fri Mar 8, 2013

i want to do a long-term annual rental but while i have found about a dozen nice condos for rent annually, none will allow pets of any kind. Am I doomed until I actually buy a condo myself?

Many of the ocean front condos allow OWNERS to have pets. Not very many allow renters to have pets.
Are you buying or renting?
Happy to help you find one that suits your needs if you plan to buy. Unfortunately if you are renting it will be very difficult.

Contact the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce. They may have a list of pet-friendly condos on the oceanfront. http://www.myrtlebeachareachamber.com/

Most oceanfront rental owners want to get the benefit of summer rental income. There are a lot of condo complexes which do long-term winter rentals and monthly rentals in the shoulder months. So it is difficult to find any oceanfront year round rentals. I did research in MLS for active listings to determine which ones show rental to pet owners allowed. .

See list below-
Beachwalk Villas-Cherry Grove
Lands End
Shores of Surfside II
Ocean Garden Villas
Cedar Ridge North Myrtle
Ocean Place 1
Bay Watch Phase 3 North Myrtle
Ocean Forest
Ocean Park
Patricia Grand

You might try Craigslist to see if any of these show up with annual rentals available. Every condo complex will have rules regarding pets and individual owners have the right to deny pets EVEN if the complex accepts pets. One item to remember is that most towns do not allow pets on the beach in high season. The other consideration is whether your small dogs will be tolerant of the influx of people in high season in elevators, noise levels, activities, etc.

Wish you all the best in your quest.
