Nicole Noriega, Yes the rental market is different than the selling market. Try finding a property management company with rental agents or go to apartment complexes that offer the amenities you are seeking.

Be prepared to complete an application which requires a fee for a background check.

Hello Nicole,

The best way to avoid scams when it comes to any real estate deal is to deal with a reputable real estate firm. In your case preferably one that also deals in rental properties. The biggest concern today is making sure that the person you are renting from actually owns the property and has the legal right to make a rental agreement with you.

If you go to local real estate agencies, they should be able to supply you with inventory on the mls. It is also for rentals and is dependable so you do not have to worry about scams.

In most communities, real estate agencies will be able to look to see what rentals are on the local MLS. This is certainly one of the dependable ways of proceeding which will guard against scams.

Nicole, I recommend working with a real estate agent to help you narrow down your property search and can walk you through the process of finding a rental and securing it with an application.

As an agent, we have access to listing information and can help you locate a reputable rental company and find a home quickly and efficiently. Renting (and home buying) should be as painless as possible.

sadly as the retail market has be flooded by thee house bubble which has created a shortage so it rip for scamming so I wish you the best in finding a place and yes expect a background check free as there very common on apt buildings and not so much with room rentals private housing but that were some problems happen as some jerks think a roommate is kid slave or sex toy
