What are my options if I need to rent for just two months?

Asked by john, Portland, OR Wed Jul 24, 2013

We just sold our house, and are building new. Looks like we will have a two month window before our new house will be completed. Any place to go to try and find someone maybe looking to rent short-term? Will appartments rent for that short of term?

put everthing in strorage and try to find a small place for a short time but the market is tight. VBRO is a great option but you will pay at least $100 a night. Good luck. Tom Inglesby, Broker, RE/MAX

yes, I agree with Linda. Your best options could be extended stay/temporary housing options. I've also had clients utilize those services while in an interim housing situation. Best of luck, jj

You should be able to find a short term month to month apartment with no problem. It will be at a higher rate than a long term lease. As well, Extended Stay America or the Residence Inn offer decent accommodations and I even have some clients who are in between homes use VRBO.com to find short term finished options. Good luck.

John - I would recommend talking to a licensed property manager with a great selection of rentals and tell them you are looking for a month to month rental. Many apartments will do month to month as well.
