Scam, I emailed the agent and he said he would mail me the keys if i wired him $800.00. Turns out the house was never for rent it sold in 2 days.

Yes, these scams are prevalent.

Work with a Realtor who will guide you towards properties that ARE for rent.

This has been happening to a lot of rental and sale listings, especially on Craigslist and without any Realtor representation by either party....

There is a growing popularity in this type of scam. Its almost always involving rental properties. Bottom line is that if the person listing the property doesn't have the time or means to let you inside, its almost certainly a scam. The rental deals are always too good to be true.

Yep... never wire money to someone you haven't met, for a property that you haven't seen.

When you say it out loud, it makes a lot of sense, doesn't it?
