My wife has a visiting position at Rutgers. We need a min. 2 bedroom home for Jan-June. Must be in HP HS district. Nice, safe neighborhood.

Furnished apt or house would be a big plus. Arrival will be mid-January.

Hi Tim, I do not have anything in Highland Park to offer you, but I do have a very nice home in Piscataway that will be available to rent in January and the owner may consider a 6 month lease. They are on assignment in Singapore themselves.

The home has 4 bedrooms, 2.5 baths and a very nicely finished basement. It is just off Stelton Rd so convenient to shopping and easy access to 287 to get your wife to Rutgers. It is unfurnished, though I think the kitchen table and chairs remain.

If you'd like more info, just send me an email. I would also be happy to do more searching beyond that for you if you are free to work with me on your search.

Best,

Hi Tim,

Contact Jeanne as she is in the area and would know best! Short term rentals are tough, there are a few in the area but very limited. The situation that Jeanne states about people being out on assignment is exactly what you are looking for!

Ignore the first post. This Brian guy is 2000 miles away, no where near in the area, looking to make a referral paycheck. Brian, how about on a local question like this you look in Texas where you live and leave it to the people in the area, and no I do not answer local questions looking for a referral.

Thanks everyone for the answers, and for the additional efforts by Diana and Jeannie to answer my follow up questions. The university has managed to find a furnished apt for us in Highland Park. I suspect it's not as nice as some of the other options that are more remote, but we're going to take it for the sake of simplicity.

Hi Tim,
I have a fully furnished short term rental in the southern part of Long Valley. It is a beautiful 3 bedroom home on 2 acres of property. It's probably about 35 minutes to Rutgers. It is the West Morris Central school district, which is highly rated. It is available January through June.
Please let me know if you have any interest.

Contacting a local agent is a good option however most property listed for rent is not available through real estate agents, here is an article you may find useful I published on another site titled "how to Find Real Estate For Rent" http://www.suite101.com/content/real-estate-for-rent-a198575

Also to find out if an area is safe or not your best bet is to contact the local police dept or research the area on websites such as http://www.city-data.com or google the town a bit and see what comes up.

I hope this helps, good luck with your search :)

Glad to hear of your good fortune!

There are many websites out there where you can search for rentals, but to get the best chance of getting a quality unit, your best bet is to work with a real estate agent.

Feel free to contact me for a referral to a GREAT agent in Highland Park.
