Have you given any thought to buying instead of renting? You can likely buy a place here and your monthly payments would be less than $1700/month.

If you are interested in exploring this option, let me know.

I'm not certain which area I want to settle in. I'm drawn to Hyde Park, but have been reading about the recent gentrification in Bronzeville and between there and Hyde Park. I will begin a new job position in Bronzeville soon. Being near the lake is important to me. Security, outdoor space (patio or balcony would work), cat friendly, with a fireplace, intercom system, and lots of old world charm would be perfect. A nice walk score would complete the package. Again, security is of utmost importance.

As you can tell from the responses Barbara, we need some specifics about what exactly you are looking for. How many bedrooms and baths, do you require parking, washer/dryer in unit, outdoor space, close proximity to public transportation, etc.? The more specifics you provide, the better we can help you.

This is a two story, single family brick home, about 2700 sq. ft. living space. One block from the lake.

Hi Barbara. I am not an agent. I do home inspections, which is why I am on Trulia.

It just so happens that a friend of a friend has a three bedroom for rent in South Shore:

South Shore is a wonderful neighborhood with easy access to Lake Shore Drive and the Metra Electric.
Good luck in your move!

Hi Barbara,

I also work in these areas if you're still shopping agents. Feel free to contact me with details about how many beds/baths you require, parking, proximity to public transportation, pets, etc. and I would be more than happy to send you some listings.

Welcome to Chicago (almost)!
