If the tenant was still in the middle of the lease, it would be a 60 day notification. Once a tenant has moved onto a month-to-month basis, it is 30 days. If the tenant has not paid rent, then the eviction process need to start immediately.
It is 30 days but you should have talked with them before the lease was up. I assume you had a conversation that went something like this:
You: Do you plan on renewing the lease?
You: Ok, please move out by _____.
If so then you have already given them notice.
