Rentals in 85020>Question Details

jboudjouk, Renter in Phoenix, AZ

I know there are real estate agents that will help people buy/sell homes... Are there agents that will help you find a home to rent?

Asked by jboudjouk, Phoenix, AZ Sat Feb 16, 2013

I'm trying to move closer to my office (24th ave & Peoria ave), but specifically in the neighborhood around the Montessori Day School in Phoenix.

We want to buy.. but with my credit being poor, and my husband's being non-existent. Well, looks like we'll be renters for life.

Any licensee can help you, PROVIDED they WILL help you. Contact any you wish and ask them point blank: Can you help us find a rental? If they say yes, continue your interview (wants / needs / location / etc. - then make an informed decision with whomever you feel comfortable doing business with.

Yes. Seek out a recommended real estate agent from your friends and family and if they are not able to help you ask them for a recommendation! Any agent can help you find a rental, but be sure to find the right agent who will offer you good advice and can help guide you through the process. You will need to work with someone who will take their time to help you find what is best :)

Yes, some Realtors will help you find a rental. As you state you would prefer to buy a home, if you have a down payment, your Realtor can also help you find a "Seller May Carry" home. This provides you interim financing, giving you time to get your credit report to be improved. Another option is to ask a family member or friend to co-sign for you.

Yes. Agents, like myself, focus primarily on rentals... With sales tossed in. If you contact me privately I may be able to help. Don't be so negative either- we always have options. :-)

Yes! But what you call rent, many REALTORS will call a "Lease." I love Lease Clients...wish you were in Orange County, CA so I could help you! Good luck!

Absolutely. i would call a brokerage and ask to speak to a leasing agent. They typically have access to more properties for rent than the average selling agent. Although some agents are willing to assist a client in finding a rental property. They are not always the best option.

"Honestly", the commissions that the listing agents pay which range from $150-$200 on average do not incentivize the agents to work with tenants. It's very time consuming to drive around and look for properties and given the time factor and gas, most agents that I know won't spend alot of time on them. You can search many websites or drive the neighborhoods you're interested in and contact the agents name/company on the sign, but those agents represent the landlords. Good luck!

Wow! I'd be happy to help anybody find a place. I view Tenants as life long clients that could possibly buy a home with me some day. It's NOT a waste of a REALTORS time! Wish you were local so I could help!

You can look up some of the biggest property management companies in your area if you are looking through renting by agent. going to some of the largest management companies you will find some really nice homes for bargain prices.

First, I would suggest you visit rentals.com, homes.com, and check out listings on phoenix.craigslist.org. When you find one, contact the listing agent directly. That is the easiest way to search, as I don't know many agents who will wok showing rentals given the low compensation for such a service. When you contact one of the listing agents and/or property management companies, they may have other listings that might fit the bill.

As far as you being renters for life, you have identified your issue - poor credit on your part and non-existent credit on your husband's part. You know what you need to work on. You don't have to be "renters for life", just fix your issues. That's easy.
