You will find the most rental listings on Craig's' List online. Most landlords want a longer term lease but there are some who will do shorter. Also, check online for vacation home rentals which is a great source for shorter term stays. You will find houses, condos, guest houses and guest quarters to choose from.
Glad to be of help,

Rent a small beach house (vacation rental) or go with Extended Stay, etc. Not many landlords want a month-to-month tenant or even a 3-month tenant. That's because their expenses (mortgage, taxes, insurance, HOAs, etc.) are ongoing and so a longer term tenant avoids the gap in income. Be very careful of rental scams, whether on Trulia, Craigslist, or other medium. If you want to pay in advance for 6 months, you may be able to find a 3-month rental -- so that way the landlord has time to fill the vacancy. Good luck!
