Ah if we only had a crystal ball to foresee that future!!!!
Having said that you need to do some research on both areas because ultimately it is your investment.
I recently took a Realtor's tour of Craig Ranch (on the trolley) to see what is going on out there. Ase you may know due to the economy they have been hit pretty hard. It appears that it may be picking up now - the apartments that are a part of Town Center now have a new investor owner as does the hotel that has been sitting there. There are some new builders (new to Craig Ranch) that are coming in as well. It is definitely
worth your time to go out there and see what they have.
As you know McKinney is till one of the fastest growing communities in Texas with projected growth around 300,000.
Rentals by the way are doing well in both areas right now.
As an investor it is in your best interest to hire a Realtor to work directly for you. When you buy or rent out your homes there is no cost to you and you will have someone that you can trust looking out for your best interests and helping you make more informed decisions. Your agent will be able to provide you with real estate trends for certain cities or neighborhoods as well as comparable sale or leasing information that will be critical to ensure that you make wise investments.
In comparing the two areas you asked about: McKinney as a whole still has quite a bit of growing to do....and Craig Ranch is certainly a large part of that growth. Plano is certainly limited on the space available for new growth and with that maturity comes more stability. Both areas are great places to call home, and many people are attracted to the lifestyles supported in both cities. Regardless of which town you choose, success is certainly possible.

Yes, Traxxas is the first company but David Craig sign contract with commercial builder who build many building in Las Colinas for Commercial development surrounding Crag Ranch Golf course. after this contract Traxxas declared that they are moving to Craig Ranch...may me more companies follows.. and that will appreise market...
You must be thinking of Traxxas whose company builds remote control cars, planes, etc.
They are moving from Plano to a huge new building (160,000 + sq ft), they are moving 100 employees and will eventually add 50 more. It will be at the corner of Stacy Rd & Hwy 121.
You can check rental activity throught the MLS. Let me know is you want me to send you any statistics.
I heard Craig Ranch didi some 500 Million contract with commercial development in Craig ranch...is it going to benefit surrounding community? I am looking for some houses in Craig Ranch North, and there are lots of foreclosure in that area...but i heard that it is very good Renting demand in that area.
From where we can check rental activity in particular areas..?
The best way to answer this question is to work with a professional Realtor who can give you full information on the history of both areas so that you can make an informed decision. Unfortunatly we cannot predict the future, you have to base your investment decisions on past performance and then look to what you think is going to happen in the future.
Craig Ranch has been hit fairly hard recently and so you might be able to find a property there at a good price with the thought that the market will improve in that area.
Plano has stayed relatively strong throughout and so may be a safer bet.
It really depends on how you like to invest.
If you would like to discuss this further I will be happy to get some good information for you on both markets so that you can make an informed decision.
If you already have an agent that you are working wih they should be able to assist you with this.
