No one can know if it a scam or not, but you should not ever send your personal information or money to someone you have not met. Don't rush the system, make the person offering the home show it to you and make sure they have a key to the home. No guarantee, but people who get scammed just need to stop and think. If you get in a rush and try to rent a home sight unseen, chances are great you will get scammed. "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!" Remember, no money, no personal information to someone you haven't met AT THE HOME YOU ARE WANTING TO RENT.

The property is listed for sale at $4.995M. The maintenance fees and taxes alone are over $3k. Very unlikely that the owner would be looking to rent it out for $2,800/mo.

The fireplace is a dead giveaway. I have only seen one of those in Hawaii in the last 10 years.
