Do you vet your renters at all? I have received an email inquiry response for a property containing red flags.

NO, they don't - Trulia doesn't vet any renters........... or buyers - Trulia is NOT a real estate company - it's only a website that compiles and posts listings and data from other sources..........

The landlord is responsible for vetting any potential tenant........

by the same token, the consumer needs to "vet" or verify they are dealing with a legitimate landlord as there are a number of rental scams online - all over the internet

Think of these free sites as huge bulletin boards where anyone can post anything for all to see. Scammers are everywhere doing rentals. NEVER send money to get keys or to get to see a rental. Never pay until the owner or an agent shows you the rental. Red flags are owners out of state or out of the country. That kind little grandmother on a religious holiday in another country could be a scammer just lieing to you.
