Hello Mary,
No, a business license is not required to rent out a residential dwelling. You would be the landlord/owner but possibly would need to hire a property manager to oversee the property if you are not residing in the area.
If it is a commercial property then you definitely would need to have someone manage and oversee the tenants.
I suggest that you work with a local real estate agent there to assist you in marketing the property and guide you through the rental process.

Here you wouldn't need one. But you are talking Alaska, not California. Check with city and/or local realtors.

As Laura Feghali said, it is doubtful that you need a business license.

However I do recommend that you check with the city of Anchorage Alaska to see what regulations that they do have for property owners who rent out their property in Anchorage.

Many Cities do have their own set of special regulations for property owners who rent out their property..
