Black mold was found in the home my daughter rents in Carmel, In. What are her options? Her daughter has been very sick since moving in.

Her daughter has been hospitalized 3 times in the last 8 months with pneumonia and flu-like systems which have not been related to bacteria or visurses. Her doctor is advising to move out of the house. They have no family or friends they can stay with in the area. Does the owner and property management have any responsibility for not disclosing this information and are they responsibile for providing a save environment? If this house is sick is the owner & property management liable?

Special equipment and removal techniques must be used when removing mold to prevent the microorganisms from spreading beyond the initially affected area. For this reason, you must hire professionals to remediate mold infestations. Search for Mold Remediation professionals. Mold spores are a very serious problem for people that have sensitivity. Also check with a lawyer who deals with renters insurance for advice.

It would be best that your daughter collect her lease paperwork and contact an attorney. Many cities have legal assistance for renters. Search for it and contact to find out what she can do to remedy the situation or the ability to break the lease.
