Your best bet is to be upfront with landlords and explain your story. You may have to put down a higher security deposit because of your poor credit but if there is a good reason for the credit issues some small landlords will take it under consideration. Your best bet is to search craigslist, hotpads where homeowner's with one or two properties will post because they don't want to pay a real estate commission. Rents in Aurora are much lower than Yorkville so it will be your best bet.

The majority of landlords that list their homes with realtors want solid credit scores since they are paying us a commission. Aurora requires background and credit checks as part of the normal rental process so be prepared to pay for those checks upfront.

Hope this helps and good luck on your search!
