Best place: Have a Realtor run rental comps for you.

Second best: Rent-O-Meter.

Third place: Craigslist.

Hope that helps.

I would bet that most major metropolitan areas have some landlord or property-manager association that compiles market data.

Here in Seattle, residential real estate investors are wise to consult the excellent data compiled and published by Dupre+Scott.

Don & Diane are correct IMO

Here's a link to Rent-o-Meter...http://www.rentometer.com/

Another site you may like to look at for Comparables ect. is Finest Expert
http://www.finestexpert.com/

Giving these a look and looking at ads in local papers, Property management sites ect. should give you the Beginnings of a Solid Foundation for making Decisions and if deciding to use an Agent enable you to decide who's blowin smoke and who knows there stuff...

Good Luck

I would use Craigslist, and look at the pictures and details to adjust for the property you are trying to rent.

Check Craigslist for similar properties - that should give you the best idea for comps.

Mark,

The Pioneer Press used to publish a rental report on saturdays that had pretty decent information. I haven't looked in a while, but I would guess it is still there.
