As a rental property owner, I can tell you that you want to make sure the rent house is in good shape and that the owner maintains it really well. Poor maintenance and upkeep could be a sign the owner does not fix things and you might be having issues when something breaks down. Go to the real estate commission's website and read the Landlord Tenant Act booklet. You have rights that you need to know about in case something comes up. Read your lease from start to finish and ask a lot of questions!!!

If you're willing to sign a longer lease, you may be able to negotiate the rent amount.
