Multiple Dwelling Law?

I understand that it is illegal in NYC to sublet an apt for a period shorter than a month. Is that true? Is that for all areas of the city and all types of buildings?

Due to Hurricane Sandy, I have read that the city was considering issuing a temporary emergency waiver of the law. You might search the newspapers and the realdeal online as well as contacting the city and/or the mayor’s office at 311 or ( There is another number you can call from Vegas listed on as to if it is now temporarily allowed
