Is there such a thing as a 2 bedroom apt. ANYWHERE on the West Side, close to Culver City perhaps that's between $1200 & $1400?

Asked by Meeches Peaches, Los Angeles, CA Sat Jun 30, 2012

I really don't want my child to have to attend a gang infested school just because I've fallen on what are sure to be temporary hard times. But we must move in by August 1. Thanks.

Not Likely to find anything DECENT in that price range. Typically going further west will increase in price, but not necessarily amenities, due to the proximity to beach, Santa Monica attractions, etc. Best bet is to come back slightly east closer to Barrington/Wilshire area. Its vibrant with a large student population (UCLA and other campuses nearby) and usually that means stabilized rents because of restricted student budgets. Be sure to check out Near the VA hospital off Wilshire and Federal areas as well, as again solid units at decent prices. Look to spend $1500-1700 on a low side and $1800-2100 on the mid-side. Higher than that and I think you need to come back from the water.

HI Meech,
Culver city has units like this. They have rent control in this area.
Good luck!

Not on the MLS (web site where real estate agents post their listings). There are only 1 bedroom apts at that price range. You can try to sign up for or search Craigslist for rentals by owners. There are a lot of apartment buildings that rent out properties without real estate agents and they post their adds on these websites.

Good luck!

Can you get a rental agent to help you? I don't live in the area anymore, but know the area. Try,, even Craigslist. Best of luck . . .
