Is it normal for an agent to collect one month fee up front and then one month rent if tenent renews?

I am trying to rent out a condo in Baltimore. The agent is asking for one months rent to lease it and one months rent if the lease gets renewed.

Most residential rentals are 1 months rent based a years lease. There usually is no fee for the 2nd year on residential sales. in commercial leasing there is fees every renenwal that gradually reduce. You should contact other agents in your area to get what they charge so you can compare.

Ldog,
Commission paid is determined by your contract with the agency. Their is no normal fee. Ask a few agents what they propose. All the best.
