not sure if I should. I'm not sure what the costs/benefits of using a realtor to find an apartment is. I can't afford much right now, but I need to find an apartment that I can move into that is livable and affordable. I'm getting ripped off right now with my current lease, and I don't want it to happen again.

Realtors usually only have access to rentals that are listed in the MLS. Sounds like you need to find an apartment locater, they are typically paid by the apartment complex. Go to the gorcery stores and look for the apartment rental booklets that may give you some help. Good luck.
