The answer depends on the level of remodeling you are going to do and the size of the areas you are planning to remodel. An excellent place to get information about average prices (and maybe even find a someone that can do the work for you), is a recently launched web site I came across - http://www.remodeleze.com
They show average pricies for different types of projects with pictures and info about who did the work.
Hope this helps...

He's right, it all depends on what kinds of remodeling you are planning on doing. If you have to change the plumbing or electricity, it is going to cost a little bit more. Simply painting or getting new light fixtures shouldn't cost too much. I would have a professional give you an estimate. http://www.hollywoodbathrooms.com.au

I agree that it depends on the level of remodeling and how much you plan to do. I think it also depends on the area in which you live. I would call around to local renovation companies to get a price range idea. Good luck and I hope your remodeling goes well for you! http://www.innovationsinbuilding.com.au

You can spend a lot on kitchen's and bathrooms. It just depends upon the material you are using and the extent of the remodel. My old bathroom had a built in shower which was leaking so my remodel included demo of the shower, repair of the damaged sub floor and replacement of all fixtures, and new floor. Mine cost over 18,000 to get done and I did a lot of the work myself.
Kitchens I would say are more probably 30,000 or higher for top grade materials.
One thing to remember, is...it always costs MORE then you thought it would.

Any sort of remodels can get pretty expensive. I know that it takes a lot of time and effort. I used to do tile work when I was in high school. Depending on the tile, the job can be really cheap, or really expensive. http://www.aspenkitchensinc.com/kitchen-remodels-in-colorado-springs/

The best way to really understand the costs behind a kitchen or a bathroom remodeling is to simply request an estimate. Contractors are literally throwing themselves at homeowners for a chance to earn there business.

To truly understand the costs take into consideration each type of mini project that goes into place. For kitchens there a few things to consider. Kitchen cabinets are by far the most expensive part of your kitchen. Custom tailored kitchen cabinets can be very expensive. There are cheaper alternatives but rarely last more than 5 years. Second most expensive part of your kitchen is counter tops. Are you considering quartz? Stone? Concrete? wood? tile? Caesar Stone? etc. The higher quality and customization the more it costs. Then there are the extra elements to consider. What type of flooring you need in your kitchen? Would you like back splash or just paint? How about upgrading your windows in your kitchen? Is there leaks in the Plumbing? Generally, an average size kitchen 20 to 35k.

As for bathrooms remodeling project, it matters on the size and level of elegance. The biggest concern for most is tiling correctly and evenly. Once tiling is done right, showers/tubs are the next concern. There are many different types of tubs and showers to consider and each bring on its own prices. Finally its the vanity and lighting. Vanities can be installed easily and standard options are available at your nearest Home Depot. Costs for an average bathroom range fro 6k to 15k depending on factors.

Exactly. Get a few different estimates and a lot of advice. If you have a good idea of what you want out of your bathroom, then you'll be able to weigh ideas against each other. There are plenty of contractors to choose from, so make sure you know exactly what you're getting before you hire anyone. | http://www.abckitchens.com.au

I think it depends on what you want remodeled in your bathroom. Some things are more expensive. I would talk to a few different contractors and see if you can get an averaged price. That way you know going in about how much it's going to cost. http://www.creativebathroomsandkitchens.com

It depends on how strong changes you want to do and materials you will use. It would be easier to contact a professional building company for help. My neighbors hired this company designtechla.com and there were fully satisfied with work and cost.

It really depends on the quality of each piece you replace in your bathroom or kitchen. Remodeling can be cheap, or it can be expensive if you have tunnel-vision for quality over the fact that cheaper items can look just as good. Sometimes remarkable contractors have a sense of style that they can work with your existing kitchen or bathroom to help create an affordable, dazzling, and elegant feel after remodeling. Keep in mind that some items can be a little cheaper with looking just as good as a material with the utmost quality out there if you want to save money.

I think it would be really fun if we could remodel our kitchen. I know my wife hates our counters and cabinets. I just want her to be happy and satisfied with her home. That's a husband's job right? http://www.lincolncabinet.com/kitchen_remodeling.html

It depends upon the level of remodeling you want for your bathroom or kitchen. For bathroom remodeling there are levels of cost typically ranges. ie. basic remodeling($3,000 (DIY) to $12,000), Mid- to Upper-Range Bathroom Remodel($10,000 to $35,000) and at last deluxe remodeling($30,000 to $100,000-plus).

Similarly for kitchen remodeling, each project is unique and cost vary upon the homeowners budget, tastes and priorities. A minor redo can be $5,000, while an upscale overhaul can easily top $75,000.

It really depends what you will do in the bathroom. I had 2 bathrooms done in my house a month ago. 1 bathroom was $5000 and the other one was lot more because it was larger and used expensive material.

Here is a number of someone we've used before: 310-619-5557(I've got his number from a coldwell banker's real estate agent in Los Angeles)
His name is Yanni and he is from a construction company that have been in business for 30 years, they will give you a better idea where you're standing.

Good luck.

A lot of people are using "handymen" to get cheap work "Handyman" is usually another word for unlicensed and uninsured, you will be liable for all damages, poor quality and injuries, but you'll save money.

Try using a small sized licensed and insured co. have a simple but clear plan on paper with fixture model numbers, faucets, tile brands and other things you desire and then get three bids.

Don't go to a Home Depot go to a real plumbing, tile, etc. wholesaler that will sell to the public they'll help you out the right way.

Try online yellow pages.

I think it depends on the amount of remodeling that is happening. I would have someone come in and give you a general price for what you want to happen. This will give you the best idea of what you're looking at paying. Good luck and I hope you're able to figure everything out! http://www.oakvillekitchencentre.com

It really depends how high end you would like to go to have the kitchen and bathroom remodeled. Clients I represented on a home purchase recently remodeled their huge kitchen and 2 bathrooms with exceptional finishes for around $50,000. They could have probably saved $10-15k with a lesser remodel, but they had specific requirements.

I'm happy to refer a few contractors your way that you could receive estimates from.

Hey Labuyer1,

If you aren't too fussy and do everything on the middle end, I would say for an average size kitchen you are looking at 30-35k. For a bath remodel, if it's a complete remodel and full bath I would say about 10k.

Always good to get estimates though and allow for overages on any budget.

Exactly, it all depends on the scope of work, if wall, plumbing, and electicity etc. need to be significantly changed and you fondness for finer things.

The kitchen remodel would be considerably more than a bathroom simply because of the amount of cabinets, larger size, and appliances. The previous post is on the mark for a price range of between $5,000 and $50,000.

You can save yourself a lot of money by pulling the permits for the work yourself and having an experienced tradesman do the work for you on the side.

Good luck
