Why is it typically desirable to have the builder finance the construction?

The question I always ask a buyer when they bring up this subject:

If the builder has two homes under construction, one that he/she is providing the construction financing therefore paying the interest and one where the home owner is providing the financing, which one do you think will be finished first?

Do you mean that they have a bank arranged willing to provide financing to the buyers?
