What's the cost for removing a tree?

Asked by Rubim, Philadelphia, PA Wed Jan 25, 2012

I'm want to buy this house, but it has a huge tree in the yard that needs to be removed. It's roots are causing damage to the patio around it. How much will this cost? Do I need a permit?

Call 3-5 licensed and uninsured landscaping/tree companies for quotes. I used Sauers this past summer for my personal residence and they did a good job.

I agree. It depends on the size, location, type, etc. A lot of tree removal companies will quote the cost for free if you call them. Try a few different options to get the best deal.

I think you should consult an arborist before you decide to remove any trees. There is a good chance that you can keep the tree and the patio. Even if you do end up taking the tree out it's still a good idea to consult with someone that know a lot about trees. http://www.australiantreeconsultants.com.au

Rubim, best to get quotes from tree removal companies that deal with Philadelphia. They will be able to give you a ball-park estimate and whether or not permits are required. Past clients have had success with this company Rubim.
