I just read the answer you got and had to laugh. I'm a Painting Contractor in California. I laughed because no one has said what is involved in your job. Did the guy who answered have the inside or outside painted? What was the prep involved? What type of paint was used, flat, semi-gloss? Was primer needed? If it was inside, was the ceiling painted, trim painted or just walls? Did that price include the paint? There are so many variables associated with the cost of painting...to quote 45 cents is rediculous. Was this a licensed contractor? I doubt it for that price! The best advice I could give you is get a minimum of 3 bids and talk to family and friends to find somneone who has done work for them. If it's more than you have to spend, either save longerget more bids, (they are free), or do it yourself!

As the chap from Modesto said.....shop around, get quotes....personal referrals are always best.

The cost of painting a room definitely depends on what you are wanting. If you choose a cheaper paint, for example, it will obviously be less expensive. Overall, it is just going to be really dependent on all your various choices. Your best option would probably be to get a bid done. Then you can get an exact idea of what it will cost if it is with the paint you want. http://www.jpspainting.org

Hi Veronica,

The painter who painted my home charged me $0.45/SF. He actually lives in Queen Creek. He's an excellent painter. I interviewed 6 different companies and I chose him. He wasn't the cheapest nor was he the most expensive. But I liked his work ethic. Besides $0.45/SF is actually a fairly good price.
