Hollis is a decent neighborhood, it has its ups and downs, but it has its moments, Last year a few blocks down a police officer was shot and murdered in nearby queens village on 212 and hollis and there is gang activity within youth, and recently a dismembered body was found in a park. the public schools in the are would be Bayside High School, St. Frances Prep, and Cordoza high school. If you know bayside, its been the highest in NYC for reading and math scores. its also one of the safest area to live. Just walk home from the LIRR at 4:00am and you'll know what I mean. ... more

I am actually from New York how ironic. This street has no high levels of crime at all, however there are a few "High" crime spots roughly a mile away, located on 31st street. However I would not let this be a deciding factor as not relocating there, as the overall area of crime within a 3 mile radius is extremely low. Hope this helps. ... more
