Trulia is for permanent residential listings only. You need to go to airbnb or vrbo.com for short term rentals. Beware in New York City it is illegal to rent a room or apartment for less than 30 days. If you rent for more than 30 days, you are fine. ... more

It's not easy to find rentals anywhere these days. Do you want just a room? Speak to people who live in the neighborhood. The Rockaways are very long, with many neighborhoods. Do you know which area you want to live in? Give it some thought and let me know. Maybe I can help.

What is negative about Arverne? There are beautiful, renovated homes priced reasonably. It is near the Ocean and the Bay for swimming, fishing, boating. There is a whole new development of one and 2 family homes in the $600,000 price range. Those houses are really beautiful and brand new. The taxes are low. The air is fresh, the shopping is new. The A train provides cheap transportation into the city and there are plenty of buses. The connections to Brooklyn are excellent and it is beautiful. What could be bad? ... more

You should find an agency who will help you to improve your credit score. Of`course, it cost money, but you have no choice. Wish you good luck!

I do a lot of work in the "Far Rockaway Area" (Bayswater, Edgemere, Arverne & Far Rockaway proper). I worked in the foreclosure market for a few years, and the buyers and sellers are out there! Dont be afraid of Far Rockaway!!! I have some great deals on single and multi family homes, and the need is there! Superstorm Sandy wasn't the norm (like hurricanes in Florida during season). If the house has a high elevation you may not even need Flood Insurance.
You need an experienced professional, in all facets of life, to work with you, whether selling or buying, and especially someone who is familiar with the area.

I don't think lowering the price gives the buyer a red flag, just shows you are motivated. You'll want your local agent to recommend the best market price to you, one that will move the property. I wouldn't be afraid to lower the price if you need to. ... more

You would be better off contacting an agent in the area you are looking in and working with them rather than posting on here. Unfortunately there are a lot of rental scams so you need to be careful and using an agent can prevent you becoming a victim. Good luck!
