My husband is considering a job Memphis. Interested in hearing why Germantown and surrounding areas are a nice place to live.

We've lived in Washington state, Colorado and southern California. Would love to hear how this area stacks up.

Germantown is a very appealing area, good schools, public services, reasonable taxes, easy access to the Memphis area and submarkets generally. Most of the existing homes are older, and pricing generally from the $200's and up. There are several other areas as Jo said below, that are very nice as well, with similar amenities.
Your life style, proximity to work, schools, churches, etc. may be a deciding factor for you and the style and size of home and land as well. If you would like more specific information, feel free to contact me and we can discuss what it might be that fits your lifestyle and needs.

Germantown is a great, safe area and still very close to restaurants and attractions in Memphis. Some of the top schools are in germantown and its a family oriented suburb. I'm from southern CA and been here 4 years its definitely slower paced that CA but lots to do outside, good restaurants, shopping near by the zoo is actually really nice etc. good variety of homes from low $200's up above $1million

Hope this helps :)

Germantown is desirable for most folks, but before you put all your eggs into one basket, you may be happier to get an assessment of your needs. We have several other areas that might be equally appealing.

Let say you are wanting a 5 year or less 4 BR 2.5 bath with a 3 car garage for $ does not exist in G'town. That order would start at $450k and there are only 2 right now. Get my drift.

However, it is not to say, that Collierville, Lakeland, Arlington, or E. Memphis might have what you are looking for. Also, what your wish list might be.

Furthermore, enlist a savvy agent, because areas can be very deceptive. You may think you are in Germantown because of a street name, such as Germantown Road or Germantown Parkway. Very little of either streets are actually in Germantown -go figure.

Thanks Jo! Where would you say are the best schools? I have two kids, currently in 4th grade and sophomore in high school.
