I would add DOWNTOWN FRESNO to the aforementioned suggestions --- check out the following links:

G
reat for several reasons:

1) close to the Tower District which has already been recommended as both trendy and walkable

2) Great place if you love the arts: http://www.downtownfresno.org/entertainment/arts-culture.

2) just about everything would be within walking distance reducing the need for driving.

If you're the laid back type then Downtown or the Tower. District

If you're a second generation yuppie driving a Mustang or Beamer then Riverpark would probably be better for you.

I would say that the Tower District is one of the most distinct neighborhoods in Fresno. It's known for its night life and eclectic culture. You can read more here: http://www.towerdistrict.org/ . The Tower is also one of the most walkable parts of town.

I would say you've got three choices:
Naturally the area around the College, especially around the Hot Dog place at Shaw & 168.
Second would be the Tower District; I understand a lot of youngins want to live there.
Third would be around Riverpark; lots of Appartments and Condos.

Good luck and may God bless
