I strongly recommend using to see what is in the area of where you are looking to live. This will allow you to see the schools, shopping, restaurants, and much more. I use it for many of my clients and they always love the results.

For any safety concerns--your best source of information is the local police department, why not call/visit and inquire, they'll gladly help. Visit a neighborhood several times and at different times of day to get a sense of belonging. Check out area statistics; real estate professionals are prohibited from “steering”—enticing a buyer to purchase, or not, in specific neighborhoods; so, you should check out demographics on your own to assure your comfort level can be reached.

Chelsea is a great neighborhood and surprisingly kid friendly with Chelsea Piers, the new Hudson River Park, the Highline and a ton of interesting cultural opportunities. Go check it out and see some properties - it's the best way to get a sense of a neighborhood and see if it is the right fit for you and your family.

Chelsea is a fabulous neighborhood. As professional real estate agents we are not allowed by law to coment on the demographics of a neighborhood. If you are wondering about schools, you can do a little online research. If you are wondering about safety/crime you can contact the local precinct.
