Hey there Steve, i also want to add that there is no such thing as a 'non-child' friendly building - that would be absolutely illegal and against fair-housing :) It sounds like the more important question is what buildings are located near some kind fo day care service - I do know of the Lenox Hill neighborhood Association on 70th between 1st and 2nd - the upper east side is full of parks, schools and families. So that may be a great place to start.

Most buildings in Manhattan are child friendly. The Upper West Side would be a good neighborhood many of the buildings have childrens playrooms and there are many nursery schools.
