I have lived in South Plainfield for DECADES! I would say , it completely depends on your individual needs. Do you want to be down near 287? Would you rather be closer to the center of town, so your kids can walk to the middle school and high school? We also have a great townhouse complex.
My children have gone all through the school system, and I have been very active in several different community organizations, and have lived in a few different homes in South Plainfield. I KNOW South Plainfield, and would love to help you.

South Plainfield is a great community overall to live in. As far as what part of town to live in is such a personal choice. We have sold homes in all the neighborhoods and when I see my clients they are always happy with their choice to move here. One of the nicest places to live in and to raise children. You know the families your kids hang around with. Their is a great sense of community pride. I am proud to say I graduated from South Plainfield High School in 1978 and my son graduated in 2009. It was a very good decision to raise our son here. As a realtor who sells a lot of homes here I can tell you people appreciate the low taxes compared to surrounding communities in New Jersey. The convenience of being close to mass transportation and all major highways. Lots of shopping, less than one hour to the NJ shore, and quick commuting to NYC.
I live on the south side and my office is in the Historic Downtown District. I don't know what your wants or needs are, however; if you are looking for someone who knows South Plainfield I can help you.
