I'm considering relocating to the DFW areas after living in Europe for over 20 years.

Asked by Susan, New Germany, MN Fri Dec 26, 2008

My job would be near the DFW airport, in Euless. I'm looking for a neighborhood that might have a European feel ... which means shopping within walking distance, restaurants, etc. Is there any such animal in the DFW area?

WELCOME BACK to Dallas. Happy to assist you in your search, walking distance to shopping areas would be the Downtown, Uptown, Victory Park areas these locations could be drive to Euless area. However there are other areas in DFW area offer close community of town center, Southlake, Grapevine, few alternatives.

There are a few areas that may be good. I would suggest possibly Denton, small artsy college town. reasonable prices and if you buy in the right place you can walk almost anywhere. Lakewood may be a bit more pricy but may have some of the same charms your looking for. If you have any questions let me know. I have lived all over the Dallas Metroplex and know alot about the area as a whole.

Thanks for your time

Unfortunately the DFW area is not pedestrian friendly and public transportation is very poor. You MUST have a car to survive. You would have to drive. If you are looking at being in an apartment, you may find a complex where you can walk to the local shopping center that usually includes a starbucks (coffee shop).

I have lived in several european cities including Frankfurt and Dusseldorf and can tell you that there is nothing that compares.

If you would consider the downtown Dallas area, your commute wouldn't be too bad to Euless as you would be driving against traffic. There are a few areas in the Oaklawn areas as well as uptown areas referred to as the Knox Henderson areas where you can walk around to shops, of course, it is a higher than average priced area.

Will be happy to tell you more. Feel free to contact me and I'll be happy to assist.

Susan.....that's a tall order.....I've lived several places in Europe...Sweden, Germany, Czech Republic and not sure anywhere in Dallas or Ft. Worth feels like that. The closest place might be West Village just north of downtown Dallas. Where you live might also depend on how much you want to spend and what type of home you want. West Village will be condo type places very much on the higher end of the price spectrum here. Places like Euless or around DFW airport are more single family homes and bedroom communities. Thinking in that direction the only other place I can think of might be around old downtown Grapevine.

What is your price range? Do you want a house or a condo? That might narrow things down some.
Where have you been living?
