I just recently relocated from buffalo to charlotte and I have very happy with the move. the job market is there, but I will say this, when I came down in Feb of this year to scout apartments and make contacts with job recruiters, the recruiters would not talk to me until I relocated. Thus, if your going to make the move, make sure you have funds to live on and sustain until you locate work or have a job in place. Other than that, the people are so friendly and nice, completed different from what we're used to up north. Good Luck

The job market in the Charlotte area is good. Our unemployment rate is low in comparison to the rest of the country. There are never any guarantees of getting a job in any industry - but our city is supportive of public transportation and you should definitely do some homework. Good luck and let me know if I can get you any information.

Nothing to really add but, welcome to North Carolina! Tracey has you covered. CATS is the Charlotte mass transit system the link below gives an overview of mass transit in Charlotte.

Hope this helps,

Please don't be discouraged by some of the negative people who have given their opinions. Charlotte is a wonderful thriving community. There are many northerners who have chosen to relocate here and all of them I know have fallen in love with the area. Our housing is very affordable and the cost of living remains low. I personally don't know of any unemployed people. A friend of mine recently lost her job an had another one less than a week later. The paper if full of employers looking to fill positions. I am a New Orleans native who moved to Charlotte 11 yrs. ago. I think we forget how lucky we are to live here.
