I would suggest a suite hotel. Something like Homewood Suite. Plenty of space. Has feel of a small apartment. Has full kitchen in every room (including real dishes, silverware, etc.

A good choice for finding short term rental might be VRBO.com--you can put in where you want to rent, and a list of choices will come up. Many good bargains can be found on this site, and owners are good at negotiating their prices to your advantage. The Panhandle of Florida (destin) is a great place to find off season great rentals for short term. Good luck, and call if I can help you find something.

I don't know what part of Florida you are in, but I have a small cottage in Siesta Key that's pretty much available until December. If you are interested, email me at diane@dianeglander.com Otherwise, here is a good Florida rental site for you to check out for other vacation property rentals: http://www.weneedavacation.com and http://wwwcyberrentals.com
I have found that most resort areas will have homes for rent cheaper than the nearby hotels. I can't comment on other areas of FL, though, so which way you go, will depend on where you need to rent. Good luck!

A couple of other choices would be a Marriott Residence Inn or an Extended America. They both provide for short term rentals until your property is ready or you find what you are looking for.
