I have lived in Kinston all of my life and I can tell you there is not a better place to live and raise a family . We are centrally located, approximately 70 miles from Atlantic Beach, 25 miles from Greenville, home of ECU, 20 miles from Goldsboro, & approx. 30 miles from New Bern. The people here in Kinston are very friendly and very community minded. We have a rich historical history, as well as being home to the Kinston Indians baseball team. Kinston is a growing community with the announcements of thousands of new jobs coming to our area through the expansions of local industries and Spirit Aeronautics. Come visit and see for yourself, we will welcome you with open arms.

Kinston is a nice place to live and there will be many more jobs in the future due to growth. Kinston has a rich history and is close to several other great Eastern North Carolina cities.

I'm a lifelong resident of Kinston and currently serve on the Board of Commissioners. I can tell you that you won't find a better place to work, play, or raise a family. We are undergoing a transformation of sorts, having recently announced several thousand new jobs. We're about an hour from the coast. NO traffic jams and plenty of history, especially for the civil war buffs.

i live in virginia beach but was born in kinston and alot of my family still lives in or near kinston. its a nice quite town with not alot to do but its located close enough to greenville that a short drive to go shopping or work is well worth the money you'll save on housing. i plan to leave virginia all together shortly and buy a house in good old kinston. by the way bojangles is the watering hole of kinston so when you make friends there plan to spend alot of time eating chicken and drinking tea.

I currently lived in Kinston and have for most of my life. It is has definitely seen its ups and downs. However, we have a lot of positive things happening here in Lenoir County. The information you heard is true, and we have since had a third announcement. We have a great recreation department if you have children that are into sports, several parks, the Kinston Indians and a great hometown community. And yes, the Chef and the Farmer is awesome as well as some other local restaurants. It is a place I have loved to call home and very happy to have my family here. If I can assist anyone you know relocationg to this area, please do not hesitate to call.

Valerie, I live in Farmville and work in Greenville. Kinston is a twenty minute drive. My brother is the bartender at the Kinston Country Club. For years it seemed to be a dying litle town. Full of old money. No one was moving there.

I sold a house there last year. My buyer stole it! Very nice home but sellers had to get out.

I have a friend that the hospice director for Kinson. He was telling me the other day that the town has secured 2 large companies that are bringing jobs to the area. I would love to assisy you. If you have any more questions, f ell free to call or email me.

The restaurant The Chef and The Farmer is AWESOME! As I like to say, it is slap your mama good!

Hi Valerie,

I live in New Bern NC about 25 mil east from Kinston. Kinston is a nice little town and you can purchase lots of house for the money right now. Few major employers have left the area in the past 2-3 years and that is reflecting on current economic situation. This is web site for the schools http://www.lenoir.k12.nc.us/ and this one is for the county and general info http://www.welcometonc.com/countydirectories/Lenoir/ If you are planning to purchase you home you will have to hold on to it for at least 3 years to make your purchase feasible. Hope this helps, and good luck to you and your family.

Hi Valerie,

I'm not from Kinston, NC, but you can get some basic info about your community at most
neighborhood demographics sites. I'll let someone else who is a Kinston resident give you their opinion about what it's like to live there.
