Alfred, yes, those mapping issues can be somewhat daunting. I have a property on Davis Street in Santa Rosa and the parcel backs up to Hwy 101 so when you use google maps and pull up the property it shows the FREEWAY AND THE SOUNDWALL!!! Lovely! Your Realtor/Agent can send you a correct plat map showing the area.
Caveat on this area--I sold the home at 4455 Hall road through a Trustee's Sale. These homes are mid-century homes with mid-century "Systems" with the emphasis on Septic Systems. The lots are also small considering the septic systems in place and the bedrooms of the homes--couple this with a very high water table and you have some issue in regards to septic systems in those areas. Our system had an extensive report which brough up all these issues. This is not to say the subject property you're referencing has any issues but just a heads up to make sure it is on your list of questions to ask when doing any due diligence.
Septic systems "leach" into the ground and the high water tables make this somewhat problematic. A good guy for inspections is Mike Treinen who is an onsite wastewater consultant. His telephone number is:707-526-0872. I've used him and the venerable Richard Lease for septic system inspections for years. That area has a mutual water system which somewhat reduces the "risk" of contamination from the septic systems in the area.
I agree with Pam that the area offers some great country living. If you're a golfter the Santa Rosa Gold and Country Club is down the street. It's private but they are offering some great deals for membership!!

Dave is right--you can go into Google Maps for example and correct the position of the pin on the Map. Listing agents or sellers need to adjust the maps now because they are not reliable, especially for country properties where the maps are not fully digitized, or on large parcels where the pin placement is either misleading or downright inaccurate. And you need to go to various mapping sites to effect the changes.

BTW,this is in an interesting location. It is a beautiful area between the Santa Rosa Country Club, an older development bordering the golf course and the surrounding farm properties which have vineyards, horses and livestock. All about 10 minutes to downtown Santa Rosa, or to Sebastopol, Graton or Occidental. Maybe 15-20 minutes to Healdsburg and 10 minutes to the Airport. Can you tell I like the area?

The art of making stuff show up on maps is called geo-locating. Some companies do it better than others, but a lot of automatic geo-locating is pretty far off. Most systems let users manually adjust the position of their listings to make them show up in the right spot. Other systems still don't give you the chance to fix your location.

have you ever tried using mapquest, the information is only good as teh person who they paid minimum wage to in another country to input it all. it is riddled with errors.

Just to add to the previous response. There are streets that never made it to the maps or the ciber space.
