Hey Beth,

The first step is to see how far you're comfortable traveling to and from work and which part of the city you will be spending the majority of your time. I recently helped two good friends of mine from Leicester, UK purchase an amazing 3 bedroom, 3 bath home in Pacific Palisades and they love their home and the area. Before we settled on the Palisades, we looked in Santa Monica, Venice and Brentwood (all on the Westside of Los Angeles).

I would be happy to drive you around the city and point out some wonderful areas. I could also put you in contact with my friends and you can ask them why they settled on Pacific Palisades and what were their major considerations in choosing their new home.

Best Regards,

Hello Beth,

First you need to let me know where in LA you would be working. If you are comfortable with a commute or want to be close to work. If you prefer the hills, flats or near the ocean. If you would prefer a home or condo. I find that many of the people coming to LA from the UK prefer areas like Santa Monica (it has a huge Brit population). A friend of mine also belongs to a group called Brits in LA which he loves as it puts him in touch with other UK transplants. Finally it is important to decide what price range you are considering. I'd be happy to connect you with the group I mentioned. I also think that many people from the UK prefer areas with something similar to a High Street where they can walk to shops and stores. Areas like that that are great include Los Feliz, Silverlake, Santa Monica, Larchmont, Studio City, Beverly Hills, Miracle Mile, West Hollywood and Brentwood.

Please email me with the answers to the questions above and I'd be happy to give you more feedback about an ideal locations.

Thanks and best,

Hi Beth,
When you move to L.A. you have to ask your self a few questions like, do you have kids? Will schooling be important for you, do you want to be living close to your work? Mostly all places on the West side of Los Angeles are good. You should also find out how much home you can buy and then determine if a house or condo will fit into your budget. Purchasing a home in Los Angeles is different than in England. I grew up in Europe and know the difference. There are many great comunities in the L.A. area.
I can help you if you need more assistance. You can check out my website as well that will give you a lot of info for every area.

Best wishes,
