I'm sorry Veronica, but your question is a bit confusing. If you are talking about renting a house, there is no "down payment." That is when you buy a house, and the minimum FHA down payment is 3.5% of the price of the house.
If you are leasing a house, the Security Deposit is usually equal to one month's rent. But it is up to the landlord and he can ask for anything he wants. Some are less, and some are double that amount. (especially for an applicant with poor credit)
In addition to the Security Deposit, you may have a Pet Deposit, the first month's rent in full, and administrative fees. These fees differ from office to office, and some property managers charge you for each adult on the lease. Our office only charges one flat fee for the whole family.
Good luck on finding the right house, and let me know if you have any other questions.
