While a lock box is usually a good sign that the property may be either listed or in foreclosure there are other reasons as well; could be something as so simple as access for Uncle Joe to take the dogs out on his morning walk for his niece.

If you would like to e-mail me the address of the property I would be very happy to research the situation on your behalf and let you know what is going on with the property.

I hope this information is helpful but if you need anything additional please do not hesitate to give me a call.

Hi Lib,

Another possibility is that the owner has put a lockbox on the door and given the combination to a friend or relative so they could enter the house in an emergency. My neighbor has one of those on her door so that if she calls 911 in an emergency she can give them the code and they could gain entry to the house if she were unable to get to the door to open it.

If you would like information on any houses in the area, please feel free to contact me directly.

If it is not listed it is most likely a foreclosure.

Lib- Best source is a Realtor with MLS access! MLS is the Best source of "real time " listing
status. A n active Realtor can also give you info on ownership,Cases pending and likelyhood
of any near term availability! even if the property is not actively "on the market"

Also-If you go to the Trulia Search Page-enter exact address and Zip , An acive listing will will
come up-but this will not insure "real time " status. Best to get a Realtor to check. Contact me
directly and I'll be glad to help

Hi Lib,

Generally, a lock box on the door means it is listed, however, many times owners will put a combination lock box on the door for service people to be able to enter, such as maid service, etc. If you can give me the address, I will be happy to check the MLs to see if in fact this property is for sale.

By all means, you should contact a licensed agent to search the MLS to see if the property is listed. Generally, a lockbox indicates a property is for sale. However, a lockbox might be placed on a property undergoing renovation in order for easy access for tradespeople or for easy access of paramedics to give aid (without breaking down the door) to elderly or infirm residents who've requested assistance.

HI Lib, Generally if a lockbox is on a property it's either listed or a foreclosure. The best thing to do is to call a Realtor and ask or see if it's listed on line. You can put the address in and search see if it comes up that way.

All the Best
