coop maintenance bill question

Asked by NYC Buyer, Manhattan Beach, Brooklyn, NY Fri Jan 30, 2009

Hi, I moved into my coop studio last month. When I closed last month, I paid for the first month maintenance, and I just received my second maintenance. I noticed the bill is higher by $10 and it's asking me to pay the additional $10 for the first month. Now, when I closed last month, the contract stated a lower maintenance. What can I do?

Call the management company for an explanation. If you don't get a GOOD answer, then call your lawyer. You should have been told at or before the closing that a maintenance increase had been passed. An extra $120 bucks a year has an affect on a person's budget these days.Thank you for questioning an increase.
PS..Question every increase and attend Shareholder Meetings, join the Board.

Everett's right, as usual. Nothing you can do. Maintenance can go up a little or a lot. However, you should be getting notices from the board.
